£75 cigarette butt fine defended

A council has defended fining a woman £75 for allegedly dropping a cigarette butt – as more authorities in Wales prepare to follow suit.
This is a good thing. The criminal’s comment about Friday nights is pointless and irrelevant. The fact is that she was caught, and the drunks aren’t. The sooner more people are fined for dropping litter the better.
