Tweetie Birds
Dec 18th, 2003 by Intermanaut
What is it with birds? They can fly, yet they get eaten by cats. Then can fly, yet they get hit by cars. My car in particular.
On my way in to work this morning I caught site of a little blackbird-type thing in the middle of the road. Unfortunately for the little critter it was too late for him, and he felt the force of my front fog lamps at about 30mph. When I walked back along the road, little Tweetie Dude was still there, upright in the road. I gave him a gentle tap with my foot to check the state of play and the thing shuffled across the road. Crafty bugger.
I managed to move it out of the line of traffic so that I could ring the RSPB. They suggested containing it so that they could collect it for repair. So, being Christmas and all, I ran to work, scouted out an empty box, and ran back, hero-to-the-rescue-style.
Little Tweetie Dude was still there, still alive, and still pissed off. He had’t moved, so I figured he was just injured and in need of help. As I put the box down the little shit scooted under a Shogun for cover, and then flew off before I could catch it. Little bastard.
